1970's - Photo: Bhoomi Puja of Metro Junior School, 1975.

The Metro School owes its existence to the untiring and dedicated work of three late and past Rotarians Rtn. Bangaruswamy, Rtn. R.S. Ramasamy, and Rtn. Rajamani. The trio recognized the lack of an exclusive English medium school in Mettupalayam. The year was 1975. The Rotarians of Mettupalayam took the bold initiative, and with the help of voluntary contributions from the philanthropic citizens of this area, started an English medium school. Land for the School was loaned by the benevolent Shri. H. B. Nanjiah, and the School was inaugurated by the Gov. Rtn. P. Jagadeesan.

Ramasamy saw the School being shifted in 1984 to its current location on Coimbatore Road with a small block of buildings constructed on the land given by Rtn. R.S. Ramasamy. In 1985, the first batch of students wrote their Matriculation Examination from the School.
